Trying NOT to let history repeat itself...

So I spent a few hours this week reading this blog, and it got me thinking.

(Incase you don't want to click on that link, it links to a blog of a woman who has decided that she is going to do one new thing every single day for a full year).

I'm always complaining about doing the same things--watching the same shows, reading the same books, eating the same meals--and then I get convinced that I am in some kind of rut. I always talk about trying new things, but I don't have anyone or anything holding me accountable for such things. And with a background in history, I feel like I'm always focusing on things that have already happened.

SO.

Today it's time for ME to begin making those little changes. I don't plan on doing drastic things--I don't want purple hair (permanently, anyhow), nor do I want to try smoking or shaving my head.

I want to go see a performance at the Kennedy Center. I want to crochet something other than just a scarf. I want to try completely new foods and visit places I've never been--even if they're only a 10-minute drive away.

So, to all of my friends (and anyone else who happens to be reading this), please send me suggestions of different & interesting (yet easy) things that I could do when I need to come up with something. I imagine I'll do all kinds of things that I never put on a list and will possibly make a couple of 11:30pm runs to the grocery store to drink some kind of Mexican fruit juice I've never had!

I plan to start this soon--as early as Sunday if the weather holds up for something brand new I'd like to do. I could wait until some other "important" day like January 1st or my birthday, but why not now? :-)
